Volleyball earns third win in away game with Gordon

After a tough start to its season against some of the nation's top Div. III teams in California, the volleyball team has bounced back nicely.

With a win over Gordon in Wenham, Mass. last night, the Jumbos earned their third win in their last four games, improving to 3-5 on the season heading into the MIT Invitational Tournament this weekend.

The Jumbos decisively beat the Fighting Scots in straight sets, 30-24, 30-19 and 30-27. Junior Stacy Filocco led the team in kills with 12, while freshman Dawson Joyce-Mendive chipped in 10. Joyce-Mendive and Filocco also led the way with four service aces apiece, and Filocco's 15 digs were another team high.

Junior setter Kaitlin O'Reilly contributed 20 assists for the Jumbos, turning in her fourth straight 20-plus assist game and her fifth overall on the season.

The Jumbos next take on Bridgewater State in the first round at MIT Friday night. After taking on the Bears, they await either Bates or Springfield in the nightcap.
