The volleyball team continued its recent hot streak last night, cruising to a straight-set victory over NESCAC rival Bates. The Jumbos have now won eight of their last nine matches and have moved themselves to 5-3 in conference play.
The Bobcats hardly put up a fight at their home Alumni Gym. The Jumbos ran away with a 30-13, 30-13, 30-21 win, improving to 16-12 on the season and 5-3 in the NESCAC. Bates sank deeper into last place in the conference, falling to 0-8 and 7-22 overall.
Freshman Caitlin Updike led the way for Tufts with 11 kills. Junior Kate Denniston and senior captain Katie Wysham followed close behind, posting nine and eight kills respectively.
Junior Kaitlin O'Reilly led with 23 assists, and her classmate Stacy Filocco had 17 digs.
The red-hot Jumbos head to Amherst next weekend for a two-game round robin. Tufts is set to face Bowdoin at 8 p.m. Friday night followed by a noon game against Colby Saturday.
