The votes are in and burritos have triumphed over pizza.
Boloco will become the next restaurant on the Merchants on Points (MOPs) system after 62.5 percent of 1,922 student voters gave it the nod over Pizza Days.
"Boloco has wiped the table clean," sophomore Senator Scott Silverman said.
These results stem from a survey that the Senate sent to students on Friday. Run by Silverman, the chair of the Student Outreach Committee, it was a response to an earlier survey during which Boloco and Pizza Days outpaced Domino's, Papa John's and Pranzi's.
Silverman said he is happy that the Senate decided to do a runoff, as it took away any doubts that would have lingered after a close vote in the crowded five-restaurant field.
"It definitely shows that this was the right thing to do," he said.
According the Senate's Services Committee Chair C.J. Mourning, a sophomore, it has not yet been determined when Boloco will be able to begin taking orders on points.
"We have to make sure [they] will be able to handle everything," she said.
This involves getting some paperwork taken care of and the correct machinery installed at Boloco. "It should happen before the end of this semester, but I can't make any promises," Mourning said.
By the time Boloco begins taking points, its employees will also be set to deliver meals.
