Dear Editor:

I was wondering if it was possible to put Sports on the front page (above the fold) at least one time this year in the Daily.

I mean, I know we are at Tufts and people claim that sports are not the biggest thing on campus, but the newspaper is. Tufts is the smallest university in the country with a daily newspaper, and it is read by all the students. Every student glances at the front cover of the Daily every day to see if it is good or bad.

I will admit that I love sports, so this is one reason why I am pressing this issue. But our sports are doing very well this season. Women's soccer and field hockey were both in the NCAA tournament - not the NESCAC, but the NCAA, the national tournament. Our football team was tied for first in the NESCAC going into Week 6. I think these are big achievement for Tufts sports.

I think if we want to raise more school spirit, this surely is one way, because I know all the athletic fans at this school are shunned by all those students who think sports are a joke.

I say just try it and see what happens, because athletics are part of the school, too. Even the Globe, the New York Times, and the Boston Herald all have sports on the front cover after big events, so I say, why can't we do it as well?
