Dear Editor:
In the Daily's report on the Devigne-Teichman debate, Professor Devigne was quoted as saying Tufts should "spend less money on sending people running around the world."
In the Institute for Global Leadership's case, very nearly all of their funding is raised separate from the university. Individual donors who are interested in individual programs, such as the New Initiative for Middle East Peace, contribute funding. Students participating in research are also encouraged to contribute as much as they can.
So, at least in the case of the IGL, the university is not pissing away its money on sending students running around the world.
If the professors feel that their departments or salaries are underfunded, perhaps they should direct their anger toward the keepers of the university's $1 billion plus endowment and not toward one of the university's largely self-funding programs.

Dear Editor:
I was quite surprised to read about the allegations against former Office of Student Activities Director Jodie Nealley, as was probably everyone.
Not familiar with her persona, however, I Googled Nealley and came across her page on the Tufts staff Web site, which, among other things, quoted Eleanor Roosevelt who said that, "People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built."
I couldn't help but smirk at the irony.
