The men's and women's cross country teams each picked up a pair of all-conference selections after their performances at last weekend's NESCAC Championships.
On the women's side, senior tri-captains Cat Beck and Katy O'Brien earned First-Team nods, bringing their combined total of All-NESCAC cross country honors to five. Racing in just her third event of the season after recovering from a leg injury, Beck came in as the individual runner-up in the conference championships for the second year in a row, clocking in at a time of 22:14.66.
O'Brien, who won the race last year, came in fourth this season with a time of 22:21.90, her fifth top-five finish in six races this season. Together, the duo helped Tufts to a sixth-place finish at NESCACs.
Two members of the men's squad, sophomore Jesse Faller and senior tri-captain Dave Sorensen, earned All-NESCAC selections for the first time in their careers, drawing places on the Second Team. Sorensen was the Jumbos' top runner at NESCACs, finishing in ninth place with a time of 26:41. For Sorensen, the result was a drastic improvement on his 42nd-place showing from 2006.
Faller, meanwhile, was not far behind with a time of 26:43, good for 12th place. The Burlington, Mass. native now has five top-20 finishes this season after posting just one in his rookie season. Tufts took fifth at the NESCAC Championships, an improvement on the team's eighth-place showing from a year ago.
