Years since the women's basketball team last defeated Bowdoin. The seven-time defending conference champion Polar Bears were walloped by the Jumbos Friday night 83-56 in Cousens Gymnasium, giving powerhouse Bowdoin its worst loss against a NESCAC school in team history.

Turnovers committed by the then-No. 2 Duke during its 86-73 loss to Wake Forest Sunday night, a season high for the Blue Devils. The victory gave the Demon Deacons a 14-1 record on its home court this season. Duke had been undefeated in ACC play heading into Sunday night's upset.

NCAA Championship events for which women's track and field senior co-captain Cat Beck has qualified. Beck most recently hustled her way past the NCAA provisional mark in the 800m run Saturday at the Tufts Invitational III with a time of 2:14.36. She also qualified for the mile on Feb. 2 and the 5,000 meter run Jan. 25.

Victory drought for NASCAR driver Ryan Newman, who ended that losing streak Sunday with a win at the Daytona 500. Following a friendly push from teammate Kurt Busch, Newman managed to take the lead from Tony Stewart on the final lap to give Newman his first victory in over two years. It was the 50th running of the Daytona 500.

Conference victories for the men's basketball team this season. Following a pair of NESCAC losses this weekend to Colby and Bowdoin, the Jumbos were denied a trip to the postseason and finished the regular season 1-8 against conference opponents. In the team's setbacks, the Jumbos lost by an average of 7.25 points per game.

All-Star Game MVP honors earned by Cleveland guard LeBron James. James earned his second MVP title in three years after scoring 27 points and helping the East fend off the West 134-128 in New Orleans Sunday. The Eastern Conference stars blew a 14-point lead and were down in the fourth quarter before coming back to win, thanks in part to James' efforts.
