Film Series rolls out the red carpet on Sunday for 'A Night at the Oscars'

Looking for a way to celebrate the Oscars the right way? Want to critique red carpet formalwear and guess which actors will walk away with little gold men? The Tufts Film Series is hosting "A Night at the Oscars," a chance to gather with friends and fellow film enthusiasts to watch the awards and take your bets on who will win.

Free pizza, popcorn and refreshments will be served, and participants are encouraged to predict the winners. Guess the most awards correctly, and the actors won't be the only ones walking away with prizes at the end of the night. First and second place receive iPods, and three additional winners will leave with a pair of free tickets for a movie at the AMC Boston Common theater.

The Oscars party is a brand-new event from Tufts Film Series, which screens a variety of movies each weekend, Thursday through Sunday. "We do a lot of blockbusters, but some great older movies as well," said freshman Matt DiGirolamo, co-chair of the group. He hopes that Sunday's Oscars event gets more people involved and excited about the group, as the Film Series always welcomes students to provide input on which movies are shown on campus. "We're looking for dedicated people who want to watch good movies and get paid to show them," said DiGirolamo, adding that students who are trained to screen movies earn $10 per movie they help with.

"A Night at the Oscars" will take place in the campus center game room beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday.
