Gross nabs spot on All-NESCAC men's squash team

On the heels of a 17-2 personal stint for Tufts this season, senior tri-captain Jake Gross was rewarded for his play at the top of the men's squash lineup by being voted onto the first-ever all-conference men's squash squad Feb. 22.

After spending four years as the squad's No. 1 player on the ladder, Gross posted a career 53-21 record, good for the program's all-time wins record, which the senior established earlier this season. According to the latest College Squash Association (CSA) poll, dated Jan. 20, Gross is ranked No. 26 in the country and is the ninth-best in the NESCAC behind a slew of players from CSA national champion Trinity, as well as Bates senior Ricky Weiskopf.

Gross' first loss came early in the season, on Nov. 28 to Dartmouth junior Andrew Boumford in five sets. After that, he picked up 10 consecutive victories before falling in four sets Feb. 8 to Weiskopf, who joined Gross in earning all-conference honors.

With the team portion of the season complete, Gross now eyes the CSA Individual Championships this weekend, hosted at Navy, armed with a four-match winning streak.
