Anthony House, more commonly known as the Crafts House, is located downhill at 14 Professors Row. Spread among three floors, the house contains three singles, five doubles, one triple, two full and two half bathrooms, a full kitchen and a large common room. The kitchen is especially important for the Crafts House, which also operates a food cooperative that requires each member of the house to cook one meal per week. Another duty of residents is to help maintain and run the Crafts Center located in the basement of Lewis Hall.
The kitchen is a big draw for residents. "I lived in the dorms, but their kitchens can't really compare to having a fully stocked fridge at any time," Arroyo said. Despite the kitchen, there may be some problems with other house utilities. "We have had some problems with one shower and with the heating, but facilities has always fixed them within a day," Arroyo said.
Living in the Crafts House, however, is not based on lottery numbers. Each student wishing to live in the house must submit an application, which consists of tasks involving both writing and crafts. Being able to choose the residents creates a unique bond among housemates. "You get a real sense of community with the people you are living with," Arroyo said.
