Tufts Dems to host election-results party

The Tufts Democrats will hold a Super Tuesday results-watching party in the campus center at 8 p.m. today.

Two televisions will broadcast CNN until the campus center closes, and the organization will serve pizza, according to sophomore Shana Hurley, secretary of Tufts Dems.

This will be the culmination of days of work for the Tufts Dems, who tabled yesterday to raise awareness of the election and of the Democratic candidates. They capped the eve of Super Tuesday with a mock debate between a supporter of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

They will table all day today. "The tabling is to answer questions people have about the locations of the polling places and about candidates, if people have them," Hurley said.

The Tufts Dems will try to incorporate student input in addition to CNN's coverage. "We're planning on having people talk about the issues and how the delegates and the superdelegates system works," Hurley said.

In all, 24 states will hold primaries or caucuses tomorrow, and 22 Democratic contests will take place across the country. "We should be there until the campus center closes, because returns will be coming in from Calfornia too," Hurley said.
