Harvard professor David Cutler discussed his book, "Your Money Or Your Life: Strong Medicine for America's Health Care System," last night, which argues that the U.S. health-care companies could charge less money for the benefits they provide.
His book sought to investigate why health-care prices have recently risen so dramatically and consistently, and whether the extra benefits health-care providers have added warrant the extra charges. His conclusion is that the newer benefits are significant, but that they can be provided at lower costs.
Cutler's speech, which took place in Cabot Auditorium yesterday, was sponsored by Moral Voices on Economic Justice, an initiative from Tufts Hillel.
