Police Briefs

Hey locals: for once, it wasn't us

As many Tufts students were departing for spring break on March 15, the Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) received a call from the neighbors of a house at 305 Boston Ave. The caller complained of a loud party down the road. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that the partygoers were, in fact, not affiliated with Tufts University. Police advised the attendees to keep the music down and left the scene.

If none of you broke the window, what are you arguing about?

TUPD officers on patrol across the street from the AEPi fraternity at 98 Professors Row reported on March 9 that they had witnessed an act of vandalism. From their cruiser, they noticed a window being broken in the fraternity, but were unable to see who did it. After entering the house, the officers found a group of students arguing, all of whom denied being in that part of the house when the window broke. No suspect has been found.

If there's a fight on Conwell Avenue and no TUPD officer sees it...

Police received a call from a Curtis Street resident yesterday who reported having just witnessed a fight on Conwell Avenue. When officers arrived on the scene, the only Tufts student there claimed that there was an altercation in which he was verbally and physically assaulted by another student. No arrests were made, and the student was advised to resolve the issue in court himself.

Weed in Tilton, but nothing in Wren!

Earlier this month, TUPD officers responded to a report of the smell of marijuana emanating from a room in Tilton Hall. Upon entering the room, officers found four students in the room and a Ziploc bag containing a very small amount of marijuana. Everyone who did not live in the room was asked to leave. The bag was confiscated and destroyed, and a report was sent to the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs.
