Medford resident Bill Thompson said that the literacy carnival was a great success as he watched his 8-year-old daughter Jenna have her face painted.
"Tufts, they put on a lot of events for the community.... She's 8 years old and she's getting her face painted. What 8-year-old doesn't like to get their face painted?"
Every child in attendance was able to pick out one free book; Jenna chose one about George Washington.
