Senate to lead final Dance Marathon registration drive

The Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate has organized a Dance Marathon Mega Registration event tomorrow, an effort to enlist a large number of teams for next month's charity dance event.

Tufts' breakdancing troupe, Turbo, and step team, BlackOut, will perform at the registration drive, which will take place in Hotung Café from noon until 1:30 p.m. Senators will be signing up Dance Marathon teams and handing out complimentary water bottles to those already registered.

The Senate hopes the event will "help encourage people to register and hype people up for the [Dance Marathon] in general," senior TCU Historian Alex Pryor said.

The deadline for Dance Marathon registration is March 14, and tomorrow's registration drive marks the last official sign-up event before then.

The Dance Marathon will take place in Cousens Gym on Friday, April 4, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. At least half of each team's 10 to 12 members will have to be dancing at all times.

Each team must raise $300 to qualify for the event. The Senate hopes to raise at least $20,000. All the proceeds will be donated to the Massachusetts Children's Trust Fund, a non-profit organization that works to prevent child abuse and parental neglect by educating and supporting parents.
