Goals scored by the men's lacrosse team in the first period of its 19-4 throttling of Bowdoin Saturday on Bello Field. Not only did the Jumbos score more than half of its goals during this stretch, but they also denied the Polar Bears any shot on goal during the offensive burst. Tufts ended up outshooting Bowdoin 23-2 in the first period overall.

NCAA hockey titles won by Boston College, the most recent of which came Saturday night as the Eagles downed Notre Dame 4-1 in Denver to take the championship for the first time since 2001. BC had made trips to the Frozen Four title game the last two years but fell to Wisconsin in 2006 and Michigan State last season. The Eagles' first title dates back to 1949.

Unearned runs scored by the baseball team during a doubleheader sweep of Bowdoin Saturday. The first game saw Tufts ride seven unearned to take the early 7-0 lead before the Polar Bears battled back to eventually force extra innings, though the Jumbos eventually won 13-12. The squad rattled off five unearned in the first inning of the second game to claim an early lead in similar fashion to the first before winning 9-2

The Nuggets are 15 games over .500 while the Hawks are six games under, yet both teams will play as eighth seeds in the playoffs, with Denver in the Western Conference and Atlanta in the East, a testament to the disparity between the quality of the teams in the two NBA conferences this season.

The Jumbos have won four straight games, including an 11-7 win over the Polar Bears Saturday, to advance their record to 7-3 on the year and 3-3 in the NESCAC with four games, all in-conference, remaining before the NESAC Tournament. Tufts finished 7-7, 3-6 NESCAC last season, missing out on a post-season berth.

Curses avoided by the New York Yankees after they excavated a Red Sox jersey buried in the visitors' clubhouse at the new Yankee Stadium. After reports emerged last week of a construction worker, also a member of Red Sox Nation, having placed a David Ortiz jersey in the cement of the new stadium, the Yankee organization took action by digging it up to prevent any curses from taking hold in the new ballpark.
