Students selected next year's Programming Board representatives in an election yesterday that was delayed by a technological hitch.
The student council responsible for Winter Bash, Fall Ball and last month's Winter Carnival held elections for contested seats in the Classes of 2010 and 2011, while all candidates in the rising senior class went unopposed.
Yesterday's voting got off to a rocky start, as a technological problem prevented Programming Board officials from putting ballots for the contested elections online until very late in the morning.
The Board was using an outdated listserv, or collection of e-mail addresses, to send out the ballots to members of the Classes of 2010 and 2011.
Once Lauren Kari and Erica Shipow, the board's co-chairs, realized the mistake, they had to individually remake all the ballots because the listserv had already been finalized.
The rising sophomores' ballots were not available until 11:40 a.m., and the rising juniors' ballots went up at 11:15 a.m., said Kari, who is currently a senior.
In the Class of 2011, Lindsey Rosenbluth won the Class Council presidency, Adam Fischer was elected vice president of social programming, Brooke Rothstein won the vice presidency of academic programming, Danny Wittels was elected treasurer and Kate Carpenito won the secretary position.
In the Class of 2010, Jay Romano and Anita Wu will split time as president, with Romano serving in the fall before going abroad in
the spring. Wu will be abroad in the fall and will take over in the spring. Brittany Cahoon was elected treasurer, and Clara Chan won the vice presidency of academic programming. The class's secretary position and vice presidency of
social programming are still open.
Saskia Chanoine will become the rising senior class council president after her position, like the rest of those in the Class of 2009, went uncontested yesterday.
London Moore will serve as vice president of social programming, Pooja Chokshi will be vice president of academic programming, Neil DiBiase will be treasurer and Eran Filiba will become the secretary.
