Tufts Dance Collective's (TDC) spring show will be performed this Friday in Cohen Auditorium. The concert's title is "4.18.08," probably emphasizing the one-night-only nature of one of Tufts' most popular student groups. TDC is the largest dance group on campus and the second largest student group at Tufts, after the Leonard Carmichael Society. According to senior co-directors Matt DiPierro and Adrian Anderson, the number of dancers participating in TDC has increased yet again.
"Because every show gets bigger, TDC touches more and more people on campus," DiPierro said.
TDC stands out from other dance groups in that it holds no auditions for its pieces; any dancer who wants to partake in any TDC piece is allowed to do so. This open atmosphere decreases stress and emphasizes having fun, but doesn't detract from the quality of TDC's performances.
"The dances look great because choreographers and dancers put in a lot of time with TDC," Anderson said.
The large amount of time and effort dancers put into their work with TDC make the group exceptionally popular among Tufts students.
"Tufts students should come to see their friends because with the size of the group everyone will know someone in the show," DiPierro said. The music and dances are also incredibly varied, so even for those who don't know anybody involved, it's easy to find something appealing.
"There are some people more excited to see the show than those who are in it," Anderson said.
There are two shows tonight, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 9:30. Tickets are on sale now for $4 in the Cohen Box Office.
