After a three-match skid to close out the NESCAC tournament, the women's squash team got back to winning with an 8-1 trouncing of a struggling Wellesley team.
Wellesley has compiled a disappointing record of just 2-14 this season, including a recent 12-game losing streak. The Jumbos faced disappointment of their own earlier this season going 0-5 before the break, but have rebounded with a 4-3 record since then to bring the team record to 4-8.
Wellesley was unable to field a full squad for the Thursday night match and thus forfeited the eight and nine spots on the ladder. The Jumbos handled matches 1-6 with ease, as sophomore Valerie Koo, freshman Mercedes Barba, senior tri-captain Jessica Herrmann and junior Stefanie Marx all won in straight games in the second, third, fourth and sixth spots, respectively.
Senior tri-captain Victoria Barba and freshman Alix Michael took their matches in four games at the first and fifth spots, while sophomore Erin O'Donnell fell at the seventh position for Tufts' only loss.
The Jumbos took advantage of the depleted Wellesley lineup, sitting out three of their own players who were suffering from illness.
The next test for Tufts will be against Bates in the Maine Round Robin at Bowdoin on Friday.
