Lazy boy

The Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) responded to a report on Nov. 8 at 1 a.m. of a student passed out on a chair on the porch of the Sig Nufraternity house, at 114 Packard Avenue. The student was transported to Somerville Hospital.

Dude, democratic peace theory has never seemed so real…

TUPD officers on Nov. 8 at 2:54 a.m. were dispatched to Blakeley Hall, the dormitory of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, after a smoke alarm was activated.

Officers detected a strong odor of "freshly burned marijuana" coming from one of the dormitory rooms, McCarthy said. The officers then spoke to the resident of the room, a female student at the Fletcher School who was not present when the alarm went off; she had two guests visiting and smoking pot in the room, which set the alarm off.

The two guests, who were not affiliated with the university, were asked to leave the dormitory.

Basement break-in

TUPD officers responded to a report of a break-in at 50 Sawyer Avenue that residents, who were former Tufts students, believed occurred Nov. 8 between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. The residents had left their house and believed that someone had entered their basement through a window during their absence. Two laptops and some jewelry were taken.

The house is owned by Walnut Hill Properties.

A cornucopia of crunk

A student flagged down a TUPD officer on Nov. 9 at 12:35 a.m. at the intersection of Professors Row and Curtis Street. The student said she found her friend on the side of the road, heavily intoxicated and in need of medical attention.

The friend, a female student, smelled of alcohol and could not keep her balance. She said she thought she drank two bottles of champagne, "a variety of shots" and several beers, according to TUPD Sgt. Robert McCarthy. The student was transported to Somerville Hospital.
