Every band interview starts the same way. The movies “This Is Spinal Tap” (1984) and “Almost Famous” (2000) captured this dynamic, often casting the journalist as “the enemy.” Fortunately, this band was gracious enough to welcome their so-called adversary to an Italian dinner before their gig — providing a chance to learn about their origins, creative process and what lies ahead.

Typically, society associates vegans with the classic stereotype of preachy, accusatory environmentalists and animal rights defenders. Still, some sources estimate that the number of vegans in the United States has increased. While it’s difficult to determine the exact rise in veganism, a few factors can aid in illustrating the increase in veganism across the United States. Retail sales of plant-based foods are a primary indicator of the jump in veganism. In the past six years, plant-based food companies in the United States have experienced an approximately 5 billion dollar increase in retail sales. Further, from 2020–23, they’ve raised more money from investors than they did in the 14 years prior. Although veganism seems to be becoming more popular, the stigma associated with it has not dissipated.

There has recently been a lot of talk in men’s gymnastics about the new ‘scale’ requirement on floor exercise. This was an old requirement that has been brought back to increase the level of artistry in men’s gymnastics and make the exercise more fluid. Essentially, this means that the gymnasts have to show their range of movement and ‘lines’ through a standing balance. Jacob Harmon of Ohio State is currently winning best scale in my book, really demonstrating the qualities the scale requirement is meant to exemplify in men’s gymnastics.

I’m willing to bet that most Tufts students have had at least some type of interaction with the Tufts Community Union Senate Treasury — whether that be for a personal reimbursement, navigating the club funding process or even passing by the Treasury’s corner office situated at the top of the Mayer Campus Center. Regardless of the number of times you may have heard of the Treasury in passing, many students still don’t fully understand how they operate behind the scenes.
