Letters to the editor | Re: "The Artist's Experience"

This letter was written in response to the Dec. 6 installment of the Arts section series, "The Artist's Experience," in which the writer was found to have directly plagiarized several paragraphs from Leonard Shlain's 1991 "Art and Physics: Parallel Visions in Space, Time, and Light."

'Beast Moans': Swan Lake could not have given their new album a more fitting title

Perhaps it's when the opening track fails to present anything remotely coherent or, for that matter, anything remotely musical, that the Wolf Parade fan begins to have doubts about this album. Or maybe the realization sets in later, as the disappointed fan flicks off the last track in disgust and returns to the straightforward and familiar ground of "Apologies to Queen Mary" (2005).

Bare Bodkin doesn't give the usual 'Play by Play'

What is better than a free night of theater? A free night of theater times 10! Tomorrow night at the Balch Arena Theater at 8 p.m., Bare Bodkin Theatre Company presents "Play by Play," a series of 10 student-written scenes for the stage. Teaming up with Prof. Laura Harrington's "Playwriting" class, Bare Bodkin aims to showcase the original work that 10 students generated this semester.

Campus debates Primary Source 'carol'

After an eruption of outrage and controversy this past weekend over a satirical "Christmas carol" printed in The Primary Source, Tufts' journal of conservative thought, on Dec. 6, the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate hosted an open forum discussion on the contentious piece last night in the campus center.

Some say TCOWI protest disrespectful

The Tufts Coalition Opposed to the War in Iraq (TCOWI) held a demonstration in front of Tisch Library on Nov. 15, which displayed 119 pairs of empty boots to commemorate the loss of New England soldiers in the increasingly unpopular war.

Campus Comment | Big Apple now trans fat-free, so what next?

On Tuesday, New York City's Board of Health effectively banned artificial trans fats in restaurants throughout the city. By July 1, 2007, fried foods will be trans fat-free, and by mid-2008, baked goods will also lose their trans fat. According to the Boston Herald, Boston is considering a similar move, with a decision coming in February 2007.
