Corrections

In yesterday's front-page article, "Tufts makes a toast to its future at the Wang," a quotation was misattributed to Vice President of University Advancement Brian Lee. It was University President Lawrence Bacow who said, "[On] one level, it's about money, but more importantly [it's] about charting a plan for the future of the University. I hope this campaign will help us more profoundly influence the world."

'In the Absence' not missing anything; Isis rocks

No strangers to experimental rock, Boston-based Isis once again delivers a release that nestles comfortably and sequentially into its already-extensive discography. "In The Absence of Truth," Isis's third LP for Ipecac and 15th release since 1998, continues to push the limits of experimental/instrumental music. Fusing elements of prog-rock, metal and ambient by creating a record that stays true to the band's signature sound, "Truth" also vibrantly underscores Isis's progression.

'Flushed Away' is too rank for words

Money abroad buys guilt along with goods

The Tufts' study abroad booklet abounds with bold and colorful images, from historical Oxford on one page to haute-couture Paris on the next. It's no secret that Tufts is a huge school internationally - last year Newsweek rated it "Hottest School for Studying Abroad," reporting that 40 percent of juniors spend time studying in another country. But while some may choose to culture themselves around the Louvre and the Arc de Triomphe, others are immersing themselves in a far different - and sometimes trying - experience.

Sam Dupont | Red Sky at night

A feature piece on the front page of last Friday's China Daily honored Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba. President Bongo, the article boasted, is one of Africa's longest serving leaders, ruling Gabon for an uninterrupted 38 years. As much as I would like to congratulate him on his impressive reign, seven-term presidents tend not to be great defenders of political freedom.

Walk right on by

I look ahead, and out of the darkness, I see the light. An attractive girl is approaching us. Our eyes meet for a second. She plays it off as though she was looking at the shapes of the clouds in the sky, but I know she was looking at me.
