Eclectic guitarist finds fellow jammers

Sophomore Axel Olson may be relatively new to the Tufts music scene, but he's already playing a large part. Olson plays guitar in Tufts Jazz Orchestra, in a Jazz Improv Ensemble led by Scott Aruda and with last year's Spring Fling opener, Explicit. Chelsea Stevens | Loud Noises

Let me preface with this: My study habits were not a driving force of my acceptance to this university or any other. To those of you out there who are able to rally the daily cognition to look at and make sense of letters on paper as they form words, sentences and paragraphs that have a purpose, I raise my glass. You are without a doubt more worthy scholars than I. However, in the unlikely event that you have some kind of aspiration to be like me, you're in luck. The beautiful fury of the Chilean student movement

The 15 students participating in the Tufts−in−Chile program this fall arrived in Santiago, Chile in mid−July at one of the most monumental times in Chilean history since the return of democracy in 1990. We were welcomed by weekly protests, remnants of tear gas in the air, sounds of people banging on pots and pans each night at "carcerolazos" declaring the imminent downfall of Pinochet's education system, and messages saying "No máslucro," which means "no more profit−making," scribbled and spray−painted on surfaces across the city.

Street Smarts: Tufts' Sartorial Scene

Ever notice the Jumbos on campus who put more thought into their wardrobes than matching their gym shorts to their Orientation T−Shirt? We have, and some of their sartorial styles really caught our eye. Rockabilly Boys and interview-ready female grad students reminiscent of Danny Zucko and Sandra D lit up the Hill this week by adding a bit of personality to archetypal style.
