Baseball | Tufts stays hot with win over Wesleyan

One measure of a baseball team's strength is its ability to bounce back from adversity. Tufts (20-5-1 overall, 9-0 NESCAC East) was stunned by Brandeis in an 11-3 loss back on April 20, snapping a 14-game winning streak. But the Jumbos have now rebounded with three wins in a row.

David McIntyre | The Beautiful Game

With the debate in Washington raging over the country's rising debt and the effects of the Great Recession still being felt across the world, it's not very surprising that some soccer clubs are getting into serious financial trouble. However, while governments of the world talk of bailouts and austerity plans, no such measures are coming to the soccer world, where debt has ballooned so large that it threatens to radically change the sport as we know it.

The Greatest Athlete of All Time. It's one of the most interesting debates in sports, right up there with how much C.C. Sabathia weighs, whether or not there is actually a curse on the Los Angeles Clippers and what kind of conditioner Tom Brady uses.

Football Feature | The long-awaited mission of Atticus Swett

Atticus Swett is sitting on a bench on a beautiful Easter Sunday, squinting at the blinding sun as he waits to begin the journey that, by now, has become so familiar. Wearing a jean-colored dress shirt split down the middle by a carefully knotted striped tie that occasionally sways in the cool April breeze, he ponders the future.

We love to label people, especially in a negative context. That guy is a stalker. This girl is a slut. Athlete X is a bad person. Such markers allow us to classify and identify people by abstract concepts when names just won't do.

Men's Track and Field | Tufts looks to NESCACs after strong effort at Invitational

In its final weekend before the NESCAC Championships, the men's track and field team was hoping for a tuneup at the Tufts Invitational at the Dussault track Saturday. And in what turned into a battle against a second straight week of poor weather, some Jumbos came out on top, hitting new personal records or winning their events amid the driving rain that hampered all the competitors.

Crew | Crew team dedicates boat to Adele Fleet Bacow

The members of the men's and women's crew teams gathered Saturday morning at the William A. Shoemaker boathouse at a ceremony to officially name one of the team's new boats in honor of Tufts' first lady, Adele Fleet Bacow. The team purchased the boat last year, and crew team coach Gary Caldwell and University President Lawrence Bacow conspired to name the boat after Adele and keep it a secret until the dedication. While the boat will be used by the women's team, it benefits the entire squad, Caldwell said.
