Our last soup column is finally here. Since this is a special occasion, we decided to change up our soup selection process: Instead of choosing the soup of the week ourselves, we passed the decision onto you, the people! Arghya put out a poll on the Daily’s Instagram story (which we’re sure is flawlessly democratic) along with our fire graphic (literally). When asked to choose between French onion soup, carrot ginger soup, corn chowder or another soup of their choosing, our readership chose French onion.

Welcome back, dear readers! With the almost 70-degree weather, you may be tempted to shy away from soup this week — after all, it is a warm substance often enjoyed during the winter months. But we must challenge ourselves to push back against such silly ideas, for soup is far too wonderful a thing to be enjoyed during only part of the year. Why should the weather dictate our soup consumption and therefore our happiness? It is with the same energy and enthusiasm of a Sink patron ordering an iced coffee as snow falls outside that we made this week’s soup.

Three Tufts-owned storefronts sit empty, community pushes for local tenants

Within the next few years, Tufts is poised to own three retail spaces along the 700-yard stretch of Boston Avenue between College Avenue and Winthrop Street. Two existing properties — the recently vacated Starbucks location in the Joyce Cummings Center and a property by the intersection of Winthrop Street and Boston Avenue — are currently empty. The third upcoming retail space will be located on the ground floor of the new Boston Avenue dorm.
