Johann Olav Koss, a four-time Olympic Gold Medalist from Norway, spoke at Tufts on Monday night upon receiving one of this year's three Jean Mayer Awards. The award is bestowed annually upon the EPIIC symposium's keynote speaker in honor of former Tufts President and Chancellor Dr. Jean Mayer. The champion speed skater, who is well-known for both his athletic and humanitarian achievements, focused his speech on athletes and the importance of social responsibility.
