Dhruv Sampat will serve as the next president of the student body and the Tufts Community Union Senate for the 2025–26 academic year, according to junior Luca O’Neil, the chair of the TCU Elections Commission. Total election turnout was 9.9% of the student body, which is down from 30.36% turnout in last year’s presidential election. Sampat is the first candidate since 2017 to run uncontested for TCU president.
The results are as follows:
Dhruv Sampat: 558 votes
Abstain: 135 votes
“I am feeling just honored and privileged that this community has chosen me to represent its needs and to advocate for everything it needs going forward,” Sampat said in a phone call with the Daily.
During the TCU Presidential Forum on Wednesday, Sampat provided details about what he plans to do as TCU president.
“My platform really rests on three main pillars,” he said. “The first being accessibility, the second, expanding career pathways for students here at Tufts and the third, revitalizing what campus life looks like.”
Sampat said he would focus on transparency from the Senate and the Tufts administration as TCU president.
“It’s no secret that outreach this year through [the] Senate has been a bit of a failure — not to mince words,” he said. “But I think we need to be more in touch with the student body and that starts with something as simple as sending an email out every month to the student body, updating everyone [on] what [the] Senate is working on.”
