Abroad programs set deadlines in order to help their applicants

For many Tufts sophomores, next spring will not be spent on the Hill, but in a foreign country. Those hoping to study abroad are flashing back to their senior year of high school, filling out applications and writing essays to gain entry into the program of their choice, and many have struggled to make Tufts' deadlines.

MRSA is no laughing matter

Since it was published just last week, not all of you have had the pleasure of reading The Primary Source's article "Come and Get It: Promiscuity among gays spreads staph infection" (Jan. 30). While the Primary Source is right to share objective research results with the Tufts community - and, moreover, a cogently argued and well-supported opinion on gay rights is also conducive to a healthy discourse - the article I read was neither objective nor healthy.

Jeremy Strauss | Errors, Big Mistakes and Calamities

Last week, I called Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress' 23-17 Super Bowl prediction a calamity. Since the Giants won, I'd like to hereby reduce my assessment to an error. While all Burress did was guess the score incorrectly, his opposition choked so badly that an entire region of six states in the northeastern U.S. actually suffocated.

Theater Review | Classic production is much more than 'Fair'

"My Fair Lady" is one of those musicals that demands a natural British wit, and Lerner & Loewe's production at the Opera House brings a snappily English flavor. The two leads, Eliza Doolittle (played by Lisa O'Hare) and Professor Henry Higgins (Christopher Cazenove), hail directly from the West End, and the rest of the cast, Broadway regulars, can fake a mean Cockney on their own.

Women's Squash | Jumbos swept over weekend

The women's squash team fell short in both of their NESCAC matches this weekend, a major hit to their hope for a breakout season, which had looked promising in the light of early-season successes. Tufts fell 9-0 to Bates on the road on Friday and followed that with a narrow 6-3 loss to Colby, a more beatable opponent, on the MIT courts.

Top Ten | Worst Injuries in Sports

Injuries are a part of sports, especially in hockey. But Sunday night's Florida Panthers-Buffalo Sabres game featured one of the most gruesome injuries ever. Midway through the third period, Panthers forward Richard Zednik was circling the net when teammate Olli Jokinen was taken to the ice by a hit from Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur. Jokinen's leg flew up, and the skate sliced Zednik across the neck.
