Mikey Goralnik | Paint the Town Brown

I hate everything about the winter - everything. It's cold, dark, isolating and generally discouraging of all that is good in the human experience. I'm from below the Mason-Dixon Line, but I've lived in New England for two years, and each November, I ask myself how I could possibly justify living in a place where the winter begins in November. To my relatively sun-tinged Midwestern sensibility, this just doesn't compute.

Active citizenship is not just for students anymore

Most Jumbos would agree that a certain buzz about "active citizenship" exists here on the Hill. Between activist student groups and volunteer opportunities, students at Tufts know that opportunities for community service and political activism abound.

Adam Winograd I Eiffel Thoughts

The first time I went to a French party, it was filled with "old people." That is to say, along with a smattering of people around my age, there were mostly adults in their 30s to 50s. It was a birthday party for a 30-year-old. Obviously, it was quite tame.

Jumbos drop two conference games over spring break

After jumping out to a convincing start to the 2007 campaign with an 18-6 victory over Wellesley on March 14, the women's lacrosse team did not have quite as much luck over spring break, losing two of its three home games and falling to 2-2 and 0-2 in the NESCAC.

Don't forget to shake hands

Her name is Samantha Snitow. I, like most Tufts students, do not know her at all; nor, presumably, does she know me. However, she seems to think me some sort of barbarian. In turn, I tend to view her as a figure of irony.

Daniel Halper | A Southerner opines

Last week marked the four-year anniversary of America's liberation of Iraq. In response to the longevity of the project, protests were held throughout the nation denouncing the war. From sea to shining sea, the protesters wielded signs with pictures of Che Guevara and anti-American slogans while disingenuously demanding that our troops be brought home immediately.
