In our house, whenever the seven of us get together, one of us is always going to do something stupid. It never fails. No matter what we are doing, no matter how hard we try, it is inevitable that one of us will screw something up.

Attendees at this weekend's Homecoming might have noticed that University President Lawrence Bacow attended the festivities with his left arm in a sling. But have no fear, Jumbos. The president didn't take a tumble, but underwent some shoulder surgery. "I had a bone spur removed from my shoulder on Friday late afternoon," Bacow told the Daily in an e-mail message. "The spur was impinging on my rotator cuff and giving me a fair amount of pain." Dr. John Richmond, Tufts' marathon team doctor, performed the surgery, he said. The procedure won't be tripping up his chances for the 2007 Boston Marathon, however. "I should be able to resume running in about two weeks," Bacow wrote. "It should not affect my marathon training." -James Bologna
