Some Jumbos get high with jogging, not joints

With the 112th Boston Marathon rapidly approaching, it seems that Tufts' fitness focus has turned to running. In fewer than two weeks, more than 200 runners are set to compete with the Tufts Marathon Team, ramping up long treadmill lines and hopping up and down at intersections as they anticipate a traffic light's switch from red to green.

Theater Review | Uys' show 'Elections and Erections' proves that sometimes, politics can be a drag

Pieter-Dirk Uys does drag. Donning wigs, heels and more makeup than an aging Avon saleslady in a "Cirque du Soleil" show, the 60-something South African man transforms into a variety of different women over the course of two hours. As he sashays around the stage in high heels with a grace that most women can only envy, it's obvious that Uys has had a lot of practice. He began performing in South Africa during apartheid, using his characters to satirize the government. Now, 14 years after South Africa's establishment of democracy, Uys is still using humor to critique politicians and the people they govern.

TV Review | Twisted characters, rampant sexuality make for a royally captivating experience in 'The Tudors'

Showtime Network has always been known for pushing the boundaries of television, first with "The L Word," a show focusing on the intertwining lives of lesbians, then "Weeds," a show about a widowed housewife selling weed to support herself, and most recently, "The Tudors." Now in its second season, "The Tudors" is loosely based on the early reign of King Henry VIII. The first season began with Henry's negotiations with Francis I of France and ended with the death of the previous Chancellor Wolsley and the first seduction of the king by Anne Boleyn.

Men's Tennis | Jumbos drop a pair of NESCAC matches to Bowdoin, Bates

After a four-match winning streak that lasted from March 15 to April 1, the men's tennis team has dropped three in a row to NESCAC rivals to fall to 6-5 overall and 2-4 in the conference. This weekend, the Jumbos fell to a pair of Maine powerhouses, dropping 7-2 matches to both Bates and Bowdoin.

National study finds that one in four teenage girls has an STI

A recent study released as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey reported that nearly a quarter of teenage girls are infected with a sexually transmitted disease. The study, which was covered widely by a variety of media outlets, surprised many with the prevalence of four sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in particular: human papillomavirus (HPV), chlamydia, herpes and trichomoniasis.

With the rise of laptops, college students begin to deem TVs obsolete

TV executives behind shows like NBC's "The Office," and the ABC Family's "Greek," were ecstatic last January when Nielsen Media Corporation announced that it would begin mapping the television-viewing patterns of college students and factor college residence halls into its annual programming tally.

Tufts students gathered on the Tisch Library roof yesterday morning for the fifth annual Culture Fest event, a celebration of diversity and community on campus. The event included a variety of ethnic foods and performances from various campus groups.
