Hailed as the "post-racial" candidate capable of leading our country into a new era of American politics, Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has captured the nation's imagination. Even now, fighting off a resurgent Senator Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) while simultaneously censuring the would-be policies of Republican nominee John McCain (R-Ariz.), Obama evokes an image of the anti-politician, hovering above the fray of politics-as-usual and representing a new, more civil breed of public discourse.

Inside International Soccer | Even without England, Euro Cup promises great competition

As the soccer season heads into its final stretch, those players not on club teams competing for league titles are starting to think about another competition. Considered arguably the second greatest soccer event in the world behind the World Cup, the European Championships attract millions of spectators every four years. For soccer fans that can't wait for the 2010 World Cup to kick off, the Euro Cup, which starts in early June, is a tasty appetizer.

This year's candidates for the TCU Senate, Committee on Student Life and Judiciary

The candidates for the Classes of 2009 and 2010 have won uncontested election to the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate. Candidates for the Committee on Student Life (CSL) and the Judiciary have also won uncontested seats. Eleven senatorial candidates for the Class of 2011 will run for nine seats. These candidates will face off in the Candidates Forum in Sophia Gordon Hall tonight at 8 p.m. The incoming Class of 2012 has seven available positions on the Senate; they will be decided in September of next year.

Standalone | FunkSoulLove to open Spring Fling

The student band FunkSoulLove won Saturday's Battle of the Bands, earning a spot opening Spring Fling on April 26. Concert Board sponsored the annual competition, which occured at Hotung Café.

'Leatherheads' settles for a short field goal

Watching "Leatherheads" is kind of like watching a championship football game when the field has been destroyed by rain. The game may be low-scoring and the playing may be sloppy, but hey, it's still football, and the slightly unsatisfying gameplay is offset by the skill of the players involved. So while "Leatherheads" has an occasionally muddy narrative and often feels effortful and aimless, it's still affable, amiable and entertaining. It's not a touchdown, but a field goal is better than nothing.

Tufts looks to create 'senior corridor' in the future

Dean of Student Affairs Bruce Reitman proposed the idea of expanding the section of campus unofficially known as the "senior corridor," a move meant to sway seniors to stay on campus, during his visit to a Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate meeting last month.
