Differing views are valuable

As two students who work at the Tufts Women's Center, we have been both inspired and troubled by recent discussions regarding the Sex Fair. We want to call attention to the very discussion of the Sex Fair as a potential avenue for increased insight into the values we believe the Sex Fair seeks to promote.

TV Review I BBC television update fails to add twists to this hero's familiar tale

Robin Hood is one of those characters who have been covered so many times in Hollywood history that they've been diminished to mere taglines. Like Superman and "truth, justice and the American way," Robin Hood is immediately associated with "rob from the rich and give to the poor." Everyone's heard this story before and there aren't going to be any surprises.

What's the point of bias intervention anyway?

I'm eating lunch in the campus center, trying to do some work. But I can't. I'm too distracted by the spectacle going on right outside: The "Speak-Out Open Mic Session," which kicks off Bias Awareness Week.

The fact that it takes place in southern Florida is one of Langerado's most telling features: It is a music festival for old people. I mean that in two good ways: 1) old people are sick (what up Grandpa Richie? Holla!) and 2) as much fun as they can be and often are, the Saharan heat, interminable crowds and generally hellish environs can make big outdoor music festivals frightfully uncomfortable, even for a young, virile lad like myself.

As big of a sports nut as I am, I've never been a big college basketball fan. I was just never that impressed with the quality of play: If lots of missed threes, ugly second-chance baskets, and turnovers are your thing, I felt, then more power to you - but I'll stick with the NBA, thank you very much.

TV Review | 'The Wedding Bells' rings a pleasant yet familiar note

Fox's latest brainchild, "The Wedding Bells," depicts the chaos behind The Wedding Palace, a family-owned and operated wedding planning business run by the Bell sisters. The three sisters are challenged with the task of managing their own love lives as well as those of their neurotic clientele. They inherited the company after their parents' divorce and now employ a slew of interesting characters, including one ex and one husband that round out the cast.

Peer teaching explores college, the final frontier

As college students study for exams and worry about grades, it's easy for them to take the academic process for granted. Though they interact with professors on a daily basis, many never learn about the other side of higher education, and what it takes to teach in a college atmosphere.

Daniel Halper | A Southerner opines

Surrounded by countries that pray for its concomitant death and destruction, Israel is a little country committed to religious liberty and the sanctity of human life. Yet Israel's demise is more likely to come about as a result of the international community's inability to see the country for what it truly is.
