The Tufts School of Engineering announced the launch of a new Master of Science in Cybersecurity in February. The program aims to equip graduate students with technical skills in systems security, the ability to assess security threats and an understanding of computing systems, while highlighting the social context and implications of the field.

Tufts sees slight dip in international enrollment amid national decline

Last month, The New York Times reported a 19% decline in international student travel to the United States this August compared to last year. At Tufts, the percentage of international students across all degree programs decreased from approximately 15% in fall 2024 to 14% in fall 2025. In particular, the number of Tufts-sponsored F-1 and J-1 student visas dropped by roughly 3.6% from last year.

Eat Out in East, a new initiative led by Somerville Ward 1 City Councilor Matthew McLaughlin, intends to get residents to support local businesses — many of which are immigrant-owned — in East Somerville. The program comes amid increased activity from Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Massachusetts, particularly in Somerville.
