The list of candidates running for mayor, City Council and School Committee in Medford has been largely finalized following the July 29 deadline to submit nomination papers. Our Revolution Medford, the progressive organization that supports a majority of incumbent members on the City Council and School Committee, announced its list of endorsements on Tuesday.
In a Facebook post made on July 19, All Medford, a local community organization, posted a list of independent candidates for City Council, urging voters to replace the incumbent, Our Revolution Medford-endorsed city councilors. All Medford opposed the Proposition 2½ override vote in 2024.
Kit Collins, vice president of the City Council, is the only candidate who has not returned nomination papers. Rick Caraviello, former city council president, is running for re-election to the city council following his defeat in the 2023 mayoral race against Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
The official list of candidates is expected to be posted by the city on Aug. 13. Nomination withdrawals and objections must be submitted on Aug. 14, with the ballot order drawing taking place on Aug. 15. The preliminary and general elections will be held on Sep. 16 and Nov. 4, respectively.
