You might want to heed this 'Public Warning'

On Oct. 17, 2006, British grime MC Lady Sovereign made history when her video for "Love Me or Hate Me" reached No. 1 on MTV's Total Request Live (TRL). Whether or not hitting No. 1 on TRL is any indication of musical talent or virtuosity, one has to applaud Sov for good timing. With just one week left before the release of her first full-length, "Public Warning," on Def Jam Records, there couldn't have been a better time for her to become the first British artist to top MTV's chart.

Accessing the Hill just became a lot easier

Tufts campus has never been easy to traverse on an icy winter day, as it sits on a hill. But if the trek up Walnut Hill seems onerous on foot, imagine what it would be like for one of the 21.2 million Americans the U.S. Census Bureau lists as having physical disabilities that limit basic activities such as walking or climbing stairs.

Dan Tovrov | Seven on Seven

The Seven on Seven house threw its first successful party this weekend. Things went so well that I don't have anything to write for this week's column. No cops came, nothing serious broke, no one stole anything noticeable, and no gorillas. It was a night so uneventful that no paper-worthy events came from it - well, none that can be printed if I still want to have friends on Thursday.

Let's be smarter than MIT

I was disheartened to see the article "A right price for Tufts dorms" in the Tufts Daily on Wednesday, Oct. 11. While Dean Reitman's sentiments reassure me that Tufts probably will not establish a new, tier-priced system in the near future, the attitude of some students is slightly alarming.

Top Ten | Cheaters in Sports

During Game 2 of the World Series Sunday night, a scandal broke out as Tigers pitcher Kenny Rogers was accused of having "a noticeable dirt mark of some sort on his left hand," which, for some reason, makes him a cheater. We at the Daily don't really understand this ourselves, and it's understandable that Cardinals manager Tony La Russa is desperate to find some way to beat the vastly superior Tigers. But at the same time, we're not na've. We know that some cheating does go on in sports, and here's our attempt to finger ten culprits.

Olivia TeytelBaum | PhobiaPhiles

You leave your dorm, skipping merrily to class. The weather is perfect today; a brisk 58 degrees, and you're loving the chai latte you picked up at Brown and Brew earlier that morning. Nothing could possibly get in your way today, not when you are in this good of a mood.

Iran: Much ado about nothing

Last Friday, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran issued what could be a harbinger for Europe, warning her that continued support for Israel could lead to vengeance by those angry about the Palestinian plight. Though he did not care to elaborate on what these acts of revenge might entail, one can only imagine clandestinely organized Shi'ite militia groups summoned by the Ayatollahs to wreck havoc.

Athlete Profile | Casellas-Katz plays way into leadership role

Just over two years ago, Ileana Casellas-Katz grabbed her stick and stepped out on Bello Field for the first time, hoping it would not be her last. As a non-recruited freshman, she knew a spot on the roster was far from assured, but she had been playing field hockey since the fourth grade and was not ready to abandon her favorite pastime.
