From the Editor-in-Chief | Fall 2007 columnists are here to make you think
September 27At the beginning of the semester, I promised our readership that the Daily would act as a facilitator of public discourse and dialogue, and so far, I think we have lived up to that promise.
Inside the NFL | Saints's start has N'awlins praying for a turnaround
September 27Although there have only been three weeks of football, some teams have already solidified a place at the top, while others have sealed their fate in the basement of their divisions.

Freshmen kick up awareness of global issues
September 27Think back to late September of your freshman year. Did you know how to reserve space on campus? Book events? Get corporate sponsors? Though the answer for most Jumbos is probably "no way," two freshmen can respond, "Yes - and a whole lot more."
TV Review | 'Grey's' spin-off doesn't quite cut it, but 'practice' makes perfect for Walsh, Rhimes
September 27The advertising campaign that tried to sell ABC's "Private Practice" presented a strange image. It used the image of a flat, bare tummy and a sunny beach to sell a show that focuses on a surgeon who treats pregnant women in glamorous locations such as a hospital, a birthing room and the floor of a department store.
Levi's column 'tips' the scale
September 27The buzz surrounding the Daily's new sex column, "Just the Tip," has been unmistakable: Lara Levi's treatise on blowjobs has spurred discussion around campus ranging from the seemingly innocuous conversations on oral sex to a deeper debate over societal gender roles. The column itself speaks volumes about the role women are "supposed" to play in the bedroom, reinforcing wider ideas shared by men and women both on the Tufts campus and beyond.
An impassioned defense of respect
September 27Generally, I write editorials for the sake of promoting discussion. Rarely, I feel incited to respond to an argument out of anger.
Women's Crew | Jumbos have new dynamic as they replace 13 seniors, welcome back rowers from abroad
September 27When the 2007 spring campaign ended for the women's crew team, the squad said goodbye to 13 seniors, including co-captains Airlia Esworthy and Faith Hester. Although Tufts lost more than a third of its team, it was not a reason to panic - the Jumbos have graduated at least 10 seniors for the last three years.

September 27In an effort to rapidly communicate with students in the event of an emergency, the administration sent 15,000 e-mail invitations to Send Word Now.
Why aren't we protesting serious issues?
September 27In a community where arguments about freedom of speech are limited to whether the Primary Source should be able to publish articles or not, we overlook serious violations of our First Amendment rights.

September 27Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) is aiming to push a measure through the U.S. House of Representatives that would place a federal ban on job discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender workers. More than half of U.S. states allow discrimination based on at least one of these markers.

Editors' Challenge | Week 4
September 27It was lonely at the top for Liz "Larry Summers" Hoffman (nickname explanation below -- wait for it), who followed up a 9-0 Sunday afternoon performance in Week 3 with a disastrous slide from her perch atop the Editors' Challenge standings, losing six of her last seven to fall into a tie for first place.
Men's Tennis | Jumbos kick off season with win against Salve Regina Seahawks
September 27There certainly weren't any rookie jitters for the men's tennis team on Wednesday.
Keep counting your Facebook friends
September 27Whoever said friend requests can't buy happiness may be sorely mistaken. According to a new study from Michigan State University (MSU), general social networking Web site usage may lead to a boost in self-esteem and the ability to build relationships.
Men's Crew | Jumbos reprioritize with a focus on fitness and an eye on the spring
September 27The men's crew team encountered rough waters for much of last season, struggling with a senior-laden squad that failed to live up to its expectations.
Gambling to lose
September 26Governor Deval Patrick's proposal to allow the construction of three casinos in Massachusetts is seen by many, including the Daily editorial staff, as an important means of raising additional revenue for the commonwealth. Although the introduction of casino gambling faces several obstacles, including opposition from a number of well-organized and well-financed interest groups, the plan also shares significant support among citizens of Massachusetts.
MFA's college night features live music, DJs and food - served with a side of art
September 26Tonight from 7 p.m. to midnight, join college students from all over Boston in a night of music, art, and easy mingling at The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA). The annual College Night has rolled around again: a free event that had a turnout of 3,200 students from more than 30 schools throughout New England just last year. It's a chance to get off campus, snag some free food and music; to visit the incredible MFA if you haven't yet this year; and to see just how many students live in this city.
